Gift Card Order Date is this Tuesday, Jan. 24th by 3pm
Published: Sun, Jan 22, 2012, 01:31PM CST

Want a great way to help the school without spending anything extra? Please consider purchasing a gift card or two from the school’s gift card program this month. You pay face value for the card and the retailer allows DCE to keep a portion of the sale. For the list of all available retailers and denominations visit www.glscrip.com and go to “Order Scrip”.

Will you be shopping at the Gap, Banana Republic, or Old Navy this year? For this month only instead of the usual 14% rebate they have increased their donation to 16%. So for every $100 Gap gift card you order; DCE gets to keep $16! (this increased donation applies only to the $100 gift card)

Order your gift cards by 3 pm this Tuesday and they will be delivered to you by Friday. Just send the attached order form to school or you can email your order to dentoncreekpto@gmail.com. For emailed orders please have your check in the PTO mailbox by 3pm Tuesday in order for us to process your order. Thanks!

Ugh - Deforest Road Construction...
Published: Mon, Jan 9, 2012, 12:04AM CST

As those of you know who live on my side of town, we are about to undertake major road construction. UGH! Deforest Road will be one way beginning this week and it is going to make a lot of Denton Creek families very sad as they learn to manuever through the new routes. Everyone should probably plan to leave a bit earlier for the new few months…

I was asked to include the below information in the newsletter. If you have any questions please click on the link below.
-————————————————————————————
To the residents in the Deforest Road area,

I would like to thank those of you that attended our public meeting last month. As promised, I would like to give a quick update. The contractor will begin to place barricades adjacent to the project this week and will commence construction Monday, January 9, 2012. As the project continues please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

I will continue to give updates on the project as it continues. If you would like to be removed from this list please let me know.

Please visit the following website for updates on other City of Coppell road construction projects

Thank You, George

How can you help?
Published: Tue, Dec 13, 2011, 08:11PM CST

As many of you know, our dear Kathy Flatt, is in the hospital. Kathy has been a teacher at DCE since the first day it was opened and was a teacher at another Coppell school before that. If you have not had the privilege of getting to know her as a person or a teacher, she is amazing.

We have had several people ask how they can help Mrs. Flatt’s family during this time of recuperation. Mrs. Flatt has said she would appreciate gift certificates to local restaurants and grocery stores, specifically Market Street (no Chipotle). This would be better than preparing food for her at this time. She is going to have to take it easy; so movie theatre gift cards, movies, Barnes and Noble gift cards, books, anything to keep her occupied would be great.

If you would like to donate something, please feel free to send it to school with your child in an envelope marked to the attention of Lisa Johnson or feel free to contact me.

Thank you for all you do,
Lisa

Are there any bakers out there?????
Published: Tue, Dec 13, 2011, 08:11PM CST

Every Christmas, the PTO presents each teacher with a dozen or so homemade cookies as a thank you to them for all that they do during the year. We are a bit short on bakers this year. If you would be willing to provide 2-3 dozen cookies or brownies, we would very much appreciate your help (as would the teachers). We are asking that the items be dropped off in the copy room in a disposable container by Thursday at 8:30 am. If you can help, please email Manisha.

Thank you

Did you miss it?
Published: Tue, Dec 13, 2011, 08:11PM CST

Every year, some of the DCE teachers and staff go around to all the neighborhoods in our district and sing carols. I was able to capture this moment on video for anyone who was unable to make it to hear on their own. I hope you enjoy the video.

Sorry about the low light video. It was taped with my phone. As this went to “press” the video was still being processed by YouTube. If you click on the link and you are unable to watch it, please try again in an hour or so. Sometimes, they are very busy and it takes longer for them to approve the video.
